LOOKING AHEAD:

Thank You From Wheeling Township
Dear CCAH friends, I (Kay Belt) received this thank you letter from Wheeling Township last month:
Dear Congregation:
On behalf of the Board of Trustees, the staff and the residents of Wheeling Township, we would like to express our gratitude for your donation of hand knitted scarves, hats, gloves and socks on December 13, 2021. The beautiful handy-work and variety of patterns will surely put a smile on anyone’s face lucky enough to receive one and will keep them warm on the frosty winter nights to come.
Every donation makes a difference in someone’s life and brings relief during a time of need, The Wheeling Township Emergency Fund, a 501(c)(3) not for profit organization, is only able to continue to provide so many services to our community because of the generosity of donors like you.
Thank you for assisting us with fulfilling our mission “Neighbors Helping Neighbors”.
Sincerely,
Kathleen M. Penner Supervisor
julie Villarreal, Director of General Assistance

Thank You for Your Plastic Bags

Good news! I've just completed the 4th woven mat using the plastic bags you have all donated. I will be delivering them to the group who is collecting them for the homeless in Chicago on August 7th. I will be making more so if you have shopping bags, I can use them. The group I take them to is called New Life for Old Bags (NLOB). It is a community group housed at United in Faith Lutheran Church on Irving Park Road, entirely volunteer-run, and is a collaboration of folks of all ages and abilities to make mats for the homeless out of used plastic bags. Thank you!

This week we received the following message from our own Judi Frost, who serves on the Week of Compassion Board

Dear Pastor Allie and my church family at the Christian Church of Arlington Heights

Once again Christian Church of Arlington Heights has responded with compassion. Your generous gift joins the gifts of other to transform lives at home and around the world. During this difficult time – when needs seem overwhelming – I want to thank you for putting your hopes into action.

Growing Hope Globally Harvest Celebration Report 2021

It was a breezy, chilly, sunny day. Yes, the crowd was smaller, but there is much to celebrate. The money raised was not lower; the family tribute to Jerry Shaw was heartwarming; the teenagers of Mosaic Music were incredible; several churches participated in the worship service; the teenagers of FFA and NHS give us great hope for the future; and our participants continue to be faithful and generous!

At the Celebration this year, 24 pies sold for $6800 (average of almost $284). Other auction items sold for an additional $1100. The total raised that day was $12,605!! Prior to the Harvest Celebration event, our three Growing Projects together have raised $1.17 million for Growing Hope Globally. That is enough money to raise 21,272 people to food security.

Attendees voted to use the money to support a project in Nicaragua Esteli. The $1110 from CCAH really multiplied, working with other churches and the farmers in the Somonauk area.
