You are invited to bring signs (and masks) to church this Saturday to line our property and witness publicly to our desire to do better.

10 A.M. --The Harvest Celebration

Sandwich Fairgrounds

This is the day we celebrate the harvest and raise funds for the Growing Hope Globally projects. CCAH donates money each spring to support this area growing project so we celebrate with everyone. The Celebration itself is Saturday, October 16 at the Sandwich Fairgrounds (1401 Suydam Road) beginning with worship at 10:00 AM. Live music will be provided for part of the day by a group of teenagers from Harvest Chapel. Their musical talents are incredible, but their heart for mission and the Lord is even more impressive. Our future is in good hands!!!! Let's make sure we have a good crowd to support them. As always, prayers for a safe and successful event are appreciated. Each congregation is asked to provide 2-3 pies for the pie auction and 4 dozen cookies (packaged 2 per baggie) for lunch. Bakers, please let Carol Pinson know if you can provide any of these. Transportation will be arranged. Thank you.

Bible Study ... available via Zoom,

We will continue a conversation about how we interpret the Bible, particularly the more troubling parts. We’ll be asking how we as Christians can interpret the Bible faithfully but also critically. Our discussion will be based on a book by Dr. Cheryl Anderson — "Ancient Laws and Contemporary Controversies: The Need for Inclusive Biblical Interpretation" — but no reading will be required to participate. Everyone is invited to join in!

Thank You for Your Plastic Bags

Good news! I've just completed the 4th woven mat using the plastic bags you have all donated. I will be delivering them to the group who is collecting them for the homeless in Chicago on August 7th. I will be making more so if you have shopping bags, I can use them. The group I take them to is called New Life for Old Bags (NLOB). It is a community group housed at United in Faith Lutheran Church on Irving Park Road, entirely volunteer-run, and is a collaboration of folks of all ages and abilities to make mats for the homeless out of used plastic bags. Thank you!
