On Tuesday night May 12 our Faith In Action group from the Congregational United Church of Christ and Christian Church of Arlington Heights prepared and served 100 meals within the Pilsen Neighborhood of Chicago. We were sobered by the need we saw, but thankful that The Night Ministry is organized to help is so many ways. We were surprised that it only took ten to fifteen minutes for all of our 100 sandwich bags to be distributed. Betty Peterson’s homemade brownies were a great hit. We were all impressed with The Night Ministry mobile bus facility. They are equipped for food distribution, as well as basic medical on site treatment & testing. We had the chance to visit with some clients who lingered until the bus left. Our conversations will be long remembered.
We were heartened by all the members of our two congregations who donated the items needed for the sandwich bags, as well as a nearby deli that unselfishly donated some of the items needed. I hope that this Faith in Action project will lead our churches to continue to reach out to those in need. You may see us again! Look for more pictures in the Photo Album Section..........
