The Night Ministry
This is a ministry that serves meals to the homeless in the Chicago area. We have been serving meals in the Pilsen area.
We make snack suppers for this ministry and meet a bus from the Night Ministry in Pilsen where we serve 100 meals.
BANANA BONANZA
A full moon and balmy weather on August 24 brought a crowd to the plaza at 18
th
and Blue Island Avenue in Pilsen to await the arrival of the Health Outreach bus of The Night Ministry. Several clusters of people visited as they waited. In the hubbub when the bus pulled up and parked, people rushed to set up the serving tables, to line up to receive coffee or lemonade, or to firm up an appointment with the nurse practitioner on board. The serving group from CCAH unloaded boxes containing 150 sack suppers and within twenty minutes all the sacks had been distributed. Gracias, thank you, or bless you were the heartfelt responses that we received. Once again, CCAH donors had responded generously with plenty to make the increased number of sack suppers. In fact, the bags and boxes of bananas in Jordan Hall provided enough to place one in each sack and ninety more bananas which we handed out as bonus at the end of the serving line. This banana bonanza was received with broad smiles. Thanks to all from CCAH who helped.
